What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is the clear alternative to braces that can help you achieve a straighter smile. Invisalign uses a series of clear, custom-made aligners to gradually move your teeth into their desired position.
These aligners are virtually invisible, comfortable to wear and easy to remove. Simply take them out for special occasions and brush and floss as normal throughout your treatment. Invisalign is the modern and hygienic way to straighten your teeth.
– HOW DOES IT WORK? –
Design & planning
Using the latest in 3D imaging technology our specialist orthodontist will design your finished outcome and smile on the digital models of your teeth.
A series of custom-made aligners are then produced by Invisalign, which you simply change yourself every two weeks to gradually move the teeth into the desired position.
The smile you want!
Each aligner is designed to bring you one step closer to your finished result.
– ALL THE FACTS YOU NEED –
How long with treatment take?
The length of treatment is dependent on the severity of each individual patient’s orthodontic issues. Treatment may vary from anywhere between six months to two years. Our average treatment time is between 12 to 14 months.
Does health insurance cover Invisalign?
If your insurance policy has orthodontic coverage, Invisalign should be covered to a similar extent as conventional braces. However, as medical benefits differ significantly from policy to policy, you should check with you health fund.
What are the aligners made of?
Aligners are made of clear, strong, medical grade, non-toxic plastic. They are smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible. They are so discreet that many practitioners describe them as ‘contact lenses for teeth’
Does Invisalign really work?
The answer is yes: Invisalign does work! There are more than 3 million cases treated with Invisalign worldwide. However, it’s important to understand that Invisalign is not in itself a treatment. Invisalign is a tool for straightening teeth just as braces are. The results produced by Invisalign highly rely on the skill and experience of the orthodontist using it.
Furthermore, Invisalign is a removable appliance and so a great deal of the success of treatment relies on the compliance of the patient. Our team is very experienced at using Invisalign and we understand the appliance capabilities and limitations very well. We tailor the treatment to ensure we get the results you want.
How often do I have to see my orthodontist?
Once in treatment, you will need to schedule regular appointments with us, which will usually occur every 6-8 weeks but can sometimes be at longer or shorter intervals. It is at those appointments that we check the progress of the treatment and perform the necessary modification to ensure delivery of the best outcome.
Will Invisalign treatment be painful?
Most people experience temporary, minor discomfort at the beginning of each new stage of treatment. This short-term effect is normal and is typically described as a feeling of pressure.
Will wearing the aligners affect my speech?
Like all orthodontic treatments, aligners may temporarily affect the speech of some people, and you may have a slight lisp for a day or two. However, as your tongue gets used to having aligners in your mouth, any lisp or minor speech impediment caused by the aligners should disappear.
What is the minimum age for Invisalign treatment?
There is really no minimum or maximum age for treatment with Invisalign. Anyone can be a candidate for Invisalign provided the correction required is within the scope of the appliance. There is also a dedicated product for teenagers and adolescents called Invisalign Teen, which allows us to accommodate for teeth that have not yet erupted.
How much does Invisalign cost?
In our practice the cost of Invisalign is slightly lower than traditional braces mainly because it requires less of our chair time than traditional braces. However, as with other medical treatments, our specialists determine the cost based on your specific needs.
Other factors may include your treatment goals, the difficulty of your case, how long you are in treatment and the type of cover you have for orthodontics with your health fund. We offer a number of payment options including interest free finance for up to 36 months.
