What are Lingual braces?
Lingual/Incognito braces are braces that are placed on the inside surface of the teeth so the braces are completely invisible. Lingual braces offer the same advantages as conventional braces while also being completely invisible.
This means they offer a very high level of control over orthodontic treatment and allow the treatment of even the most complicated cases while being completely invisible.
– HOW DOES IT WORK? –
Planning for treatment
Your treatment plan is the first important step with lingual braces. We use advanced technology to model your teeth in 3D, plan where the customised brackets will be placed and how long treatment will take.
We use Incognito brackets for lingual braces. They have been the industry leader for years and offer you the patient the best experience for lingual treatment. Along with suresmile wires, you get the most advanced treatment available.
The smile you want!
Once in treatment it is about fine adjustment and keeping you comfortable. Fast and cosmetic, it wont be long until you have the smile you always wanted, and no one would even know!
– ALL THE FACTS YOU NEED –
Why have treatment with us?
We are Sydney’s leading providers of lingual braces (Incognito braces) and we pride ourselves in being one of the few practices in Australia that offer invisible treatment to correct any orthodontic problem.
We do not limit ourselves to one particular technology or brand, for lingual treatment. In many cases we will combine the different systems to tailor the treatment to suit both your lifestyle and budget, while ensuring you get the beautiful smile you want.
Will treatment take longer?
No. With older technology or limited operator experience it can take longer to treat with lingual braces. With the precision of the new customised braces and our level of experience our treatment times are equivalent to those with conventional braces if not sometimes faster.

Are lingual more uncomfortable than regular braces?
No. While normal braces will rub a little against the lips and cheeks, lingual braces may rub against the tongue, and both will require a period of adaptation. However lingual braces are custom made to the surface of the teeth making them much smoother and smaller.
What are Incognito Braces?
Incognito braces are a type of lingual braces. Incognito braces are individually custom made for your mouth. We use the latest in 3D technology to design the desired smile and bite and then the appliances are custom made to fit your teeth. This level of customisation makes Incognito braces and WIN braces the smallest and lowest profile lingual braces available to date. They are 35% smaller than previous generations of lingual braces. This not only ensures a very precise outcome but also a much more comfortable feel. These appliances are all made in Germany.
How often do I have to see my orthodontist?
Once in treatment, you will need to schedule regular appointments with us which will usually occur every 6-8 weeks but can sometimes be at longer or shorter intervals. It is at those appointments that we check the progress of the treatment and perform the necessary modifications that ensure we deliver the best outcome.
Are the results as good as regular braces?
There should be no difference in the quality of the results that can be achieved with lingual braces as opposed to conventional outside braces. Studies from the University of North Carolina have shown Incognito braces to be very precise at achieving planned outcomes.

I need braces and jaw surgery: are lingual braces suitable?
Yes. There should be no difference in our approach to surgical cases that need braces as part of their treatment. Lingual braces are a great option to have while having jaw surgery. However, 1-2 days before surgery some clear braces will need to be placed on the outside surface of the teeth to allow the surgeons to manipulate the jaw during surgery and to allow the patient to wear guidance elastics in the first couple of weeks after surgery. Afterwards, the outside clear braces are removed and we carry on with the lingual braces.
I have a deep overbite/ deep bite/ excessive overlap will lingual braces work for me?
There is a common misconception that lingual braces/Incognito braces cannot treat deep bite. The argument is the lower teeth will bite off the upper braces. This could not be further from the truth. In fact the opposite is true. Deep bites are among the easiest bite problems to correct with lingual braces.
What is better Invisalign or Lingual braces?
At our practice we will offer you multiple options and will tailor the treatment to suit your lifestyle, and the type of bite problem that needs to be corrected, to ensure the best possible result. In many cases we will actually combine Invisalign with lingual braces/incognito braces or combine outside braces with Invisalign or Lingual braces to achieve the results required. We do not limit ourselves to one particular system nor do we have any affiliation with any of the companies. We will simply offer what is best for you. Some practitioners will have financial ties with certain companies, and as such may be biased in their opinion. You can rest assured that we will offer you the solutions that will best suit your goals.
Here is an example of the technologies we can mix and match to meet your treatment goals:
Invisalign clear aligners, suresmile clear aligners, Incognito lingual braces, suresmile lingual braces, suresmile outside braces, Clarity clear braces, Damon clear braces, TADs and Speed braces.
